Standard Deviation, Test Results and Percentage?
Scores in a test are normally distributed with a mean score of 608. The standard deviation is 56. Aproximately what percentage of the candidates received a result of 683 or more?
The link in my source is a really easy way to answer this type of problem. You just have to know what to enter. The mean and standard deviation are self explanatory. What you want to find is the area of the distribution to the right of 682 (since you're saying 683 or greater).
P(y>682) is the same as 1-P(y< or equal to 682). This means that you'll need to find the area to the left of 682, and then subtract it from one to get the answer.
Therefore, P=.0932, or 9.32% of the candidates have at least a score of 683 or better.
