why do cuts in my mouth turn into canker sores when I have something sugary?
I don't get random canker sores, but if I bite my cheek and have ice cream or something sugary later, I will wake up with a canker sore. For example, last week my dentist cut my lip with the tool, and I had some candy later, then woke up the next morning with a canker sore!
Stress or tissue injury is thought to be the cause of simple canker sores. Certain foods – including citrus or acidic fruits and vegetables (such as lemons, oranges, pineapples, apples, figs, tomatoes, strawberries) – can trigger a canker sore or make the problem worse.
OK, I just copy/pasted the above, so there's probably some type of acid in the sweets you are eating after a gum injury to make your canker sore worse.
