Help with this company whitening teeth! --- Bleeding gums are not acceptable?

I wonder if the reason my gums bleed when I use the Visible White Colgate-system is caused by nerve damage to my teeth or is it just me not being very able to apply the right amount of gel. I started using this gel recently, but I had two teeth less sensitive for a while after surgery, if any of these questions is possible. Obviously, I'm a little too much gel on my gums, but it does not seem to affect other areas as badly that these particular fussy on the merits. I will not only take care of my gums bleed and be sore for about an hour later, just because it's just not healthy. And I probably will not try any other type of bleaching system simply because my dentist gave it to me free and I'm not vain enough to spend $ 60 on a new one. Any guesses as to what is happening? Testimonials similar problems?
